There were three in the bed ...


Common Red Soldier Beetles (Rhagonycha fulva) on Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) flower.

Do you know what those critters are? I keep seeing them on umbrellas, I mean umbellifers, and wondering, as you do...

Critter now identified thanks to those lovely people over at Wild About Britain.

They are very fond of open-structured flowers which is why you keep seeing them all over your umbrellas ;o)

I don't think I've ever seen one - obviously I don't have enough umbrellas. They look like miniature lobsters!
